Brownstone Closets: Zuqueta!! Please know that I'm a huge fan!! Break down PnkPnda for the Brownstone Closets family.
Zuqueta: First of all thank you. I am a huge fan of yours as well!!!
The Pnk Pnda is all about being ready so you never have to get ready. You know like a Panda always “dressed”. Can you tell I love Panda’s? LOL! Wait it’s so corny. I don’t know if I want you to print that!
BC: You posted a pic a few weeks ago in a two-piece black swimsuit (looking fab, btw) and your caption mentioned self esteem. I saw it and thought, "This woman is so damn dope!" Was that a "moment" for you?
Z: It really was. I used to feel like pregnancies “destroyed” my “perfect” body” from my youth. I really had to realize how programmed my thinking was. That is when The Pnk Panda was really born. So me posting that black swimsuit was a HUGE moment in how I have learned to embrace what I used to see as flaws as my strength. It’s so funny, I received so many compliments that week on vacation. And I know that had a lot to do with my confidence.
BC: Name a piece that you wear over and over because it makes you look and feel absolutely amazing.
BC: I want to talk about the "plus-size” movement and how maybe it shouldn't REALLY be a movement. I personally subscribe to the "curvy" or "lusciously lady" movement. “Plus-size,” in my opinion, can have a negative connotation. What are your thoughts? And what are your favorite brands that cater to the movement?
Z: I don’t like “plus-size” as a moniker. The average women is a size 16 so really, what are we saying. I usually refer to myself and fluffy. My youngest son calls me squishy and I think it’s adorable!
I think most retailers are really realizing that it’s a missed opportunity to ignore creating real sizes. Some of my favorites are Forever 21 Plus, Lane Bryant, Just Fab, and Eloquii. But my all time favorites are from the UK ASOS, Boohoo, and Missguided. Oh and TARGET!
BC: Are you a “try on at the store” or “purchase everything you like and take it home to see what works on your body and for your wardrobe” kinda gal?
Z: I never try on anything at the store. I have to try it on at home with my heels, shape-wear, etc. I will only try on items that are final sale.
BC: A colleague recently put me on to Universal Standard and I really appreciate their brand. I can see you as the face of a company like that. Would you consider being the face of a major company? If so, name a few you would consider and tell us why.
Z: I am obsessed with their wardrobe starter kit!!!!!
BC: Scenario: You're walking down the street on an extremely windy day and you are looking so fly. When you turn the corner, a huge gust of wind blows the fabulous skirt you're wearing up for everyone to catch a glimpse of your lady parts. Do you embarrassingly speed walk to your destination or get a grip on your skirt and strut away, runway style?
Z: Smile, and keep walking! My thighs are fab!
BC: Should lusciously curvy women never ever ever wear certain things? Name a few things that you feel are just a no-no. Have you had any no-no moments?
Z: I don’t think there are things that are a no-no but fit is important. It’s also important to know how to dress your body type and shape.
I have worn items with fit issues. Like trying to make fetch happen when I shouldn’t have! My no-no moments come from everyday issues like I hate muffin tops so when I don’t wear my smoother (I wear one everyday).
BC: As I said earlier, I'm a fan! Love your style, your pixie (“short hair, don't care”). Who are you a fan of style-wise?
BC: What can we expect from @ThePnkPnda in the future?
Z: I will be adding some styling services to my site at the beginning of the year. I am super excited about that!
Thank you for the feature!!!!!
